I offered to bring Dr. Hawking a Beaver or a Duck scarf but my physical therapist (Jake at Pedal PT) is a rabid Timbers fan and he gave me the scarf to give to Dr Hawking. I hadn’t thought about getting a picture until the last minute but I knew Jake and my rabid Timber’s fan friend Alan would get a kick out of the picture so the Dr. let me snap a shot.
The funny thing is I had talked to the papers about the meeting with Dr Hawking and they weren’t interested in carrying the story. (An hour-and-a-half meeting between an Oregon Teacher of the Year and the world’s smartest man was not newsworthy in Portland….but the scarf was! Go figure….).
