I was watching the Whitecaps vs LAFC playoff match and right after LAFC scored their first goal they cut to this fan in the stands and it immediately made me laugh and think of this shot from 2016 of a fan reaction during a Whitecaps loss to the Timbers. I kind of remember it being from a Cascadia Cup match but my files creation date says 2016 and we didn’t win that year.
Here’s a shot from the Whitecaps win over LAFC in PKs on 11/23/25. I’ll never root for the Sounders, but despite the way the Whitecaps have owned us in 2024 and 2025, I still don’t feel same kind of animosity towards them. That’s probably because they haven’t had a lot of success, and it almost feels like they are our little brothers. I’m hoping they make it to the Cup. I think this guy is Jon Hamm’s less attractive half-brother.
