Less about the soccer and more about being a Portland Timbers fan.

Timbers tried to engage new contract, but wasn’t likely due to personal reasons.

Wow this is a big blow. Though not flawless, David Ayala was one of the bright spots for us in 2025. It seemed like he was finally going to be the guy we thought he would. I have to be honest, I was surprised we kept him on the team for as long as we did before the past couple of years, but I had fully come around on the promise of what he was capable of. I guess it’s good that we are getting something for him before his contract runs out, although $2 million seems like a bit of a bargain. I’ll be sad to see him go, let alone to a team like Miami. Can’t blame the kid for wanting to play with Messi. I’m still not sure how his last name is actually pronounced. With Paredes also gone (insert sad emoji) that means we’re down to one last DM… After not being rated by Phill Neville for most of the season, we’re going to have to lean on the amazing Diego Chara once again.
