Big Yellow Coming Down

The construction cam goes in and out of focus every half hour, which makes for very trippy viewing of the time-lapse video if you’re in the mood. Highly recommended! What’s going on? They’ve started dismantling the big yellow crane, digging the foundation for the exterior retail store, and there is some interesting scaffolding up in the West end between the press box and the box suites.

What’s behind this fence?

Digging the foundation for the new retail store. I’m not sure if there will be a pass through to the stadium or if the entrance will only be from the exterior. Maybe this means they’ll change the store in the North End into more concessions.

Bob the Builder said the steel structure was going to be an elevator shaft when he saw it being constructed on the ground. That seems unlikely given the cross beams running through the middle. I don’t think stairs will fit either. What is the purpose of this structure?
UPDATE: Pete McKeeman suggested two separate elevators, which seems perfectly obvious, as I write this.

Panorama from the street outside.

It took me a while to realize what was going on, but they are dismantling the giant yellow crane that has been overseeing the park for over a year now.

Same view, a little lower. A semi had just left with a big section of the yellow crane.

What’s going on over here? Lighting and scoreboard enhancements are supposed to be happening, perhaps this is related. Could they be extending the press box? UPDATE: Video scoreboards allegedly going here.

Looks like all the extensions on the awnings are in place on the available struts.

The view from inside the lobby of Providence Health Center. New door coming. Wahoo!

    1. Holy cow, a reader! I thought it was funny too. I almost didn’t include the picture, but if one person laughs, I made the right choice!
