Less about the soccer and more about being a Portland Timbers fan.

This is an old post from PTFZine 1.0. The focus of the web site has changed since then, but the old content remains. If you’re interested in the what and why, see this post.

Another photo courtesy of Walt Jensen. Snow in the stadium, just like that time in 1953 when they built a downhill ski jump for the Rose Festival. Rose Festival? Yes, it was artifice snow, brought in on trucks. I always thought that ski jump was a one time deal, but I’ve found photos online dated at 1953 and 1961.

According to Providenceparkpdx.com: “Used to promote skiing on Mount Hood, the Cascade Ski Club also held an international ski jump competition, attracting over 40,000 spectators to Multnomah Stadium.”
