The Timbers traded Kevin Kelsy to Scottish giants (at least in the Scottish league…) Rangers FC. This is a move that seems completely unlike something our front office would normally do, which is hold on to a guy until his value drops, or he gets so pissed off that he goes awol, unless he’s Asprilla or Mora. In fact, it was Finn Surman who was expected to be sold time after the World Cup break. Kelsy has been hot for the Timbers, especially after Phil exited. Since he joined us in 2025, he divided the fans due to his lack of consistent production and a bad attitude as evidenced by a perceived lack of work ethic on the pitch as well as occasional the small tantrums he would have when he didn’t get the service he desired. All that was out the window in the past couple of months though… I guess Rangers made us an offer we couldn’t refuse, reportedly one that was a club record for Rangers? That can’t be right…. Allegedly twice what we paid for him, with sell on options… Doesn’t sound like us. A smart move long term, but not so great for the rest of the 2026 season. If only someone would have thought to align the MLS schedule with the rest of the world… Oh right. Maybe this is sign of things to come for the Timbers.
There’s a lot going on in this graphic from the social media team. You don’t have to use all the filters.

This will be the goal I remember him for.
He looks happy. Good luck Kevin. Your “he has so much potential” phase was pretty short for Timber.
